When was the first Starion manufactured

Post by dirty sanchez »

I am looking at doing the Old BP Rally, to know which category to go in I need to know when the first Starion was manufactured (not the date it was first sold in Australia). The cut off is 31 December 1980, were there any made before this date?

I really need to know when the first Starion was made, not imported and sold, particularly given that often Oz is one of the last places to get a new car. Any idea where to get this info?

If they landed here in Feb 1981 then they just might have been manufactured before 31 December 1980. If that is the case, then they are eligabile. Any ideas as to how would I find out for sure?

Dad had the first Starion imported into Australia as part of his job with Mitsubishi in early 82. It was Yellow and by the time we got it, it had been in the country for a while. It had the SA plates on it as they deliver to Tonsley Park first.

To change the topic somewhat.
Read somewhere that a Scorpion with a Starion style rear end was made.
Did any make it here to Oz or NZ?

I am interested to find out as I ran a Scorpion with a JA engine for a few years?
