yes there's a dash 12V 4G63. and i reckon kit's latest dyno result put paid to any claims the 4G54 is better than the 4G63 sohc...
Fibreglass airdams $370, fibreglass front bumpers $260, reco drag links $165, alloy radiators $925 (unpolished), h/l switch rebuilds $125, all plus freight.

A bit of trivia 4 those wondering about the dash motor
D (dual ) A (action ) S (SUPER ) H ( head ) It had 1 ex valve and 2 inlets one smaller than the other .The small iv opened all the time & the larger iv started opperating at app 1700 rpm I think it had to do with economy & emissions The computer also allowed for a short period of overboost when overtaking or hard accelleration .If my memory serves me correctly they had the same power as the early VR4s 148kws

several street 2.6s in the high 400s. Not a 'big number', but.... its that 500+ ft-lbs of torque, is where evil resides.redzone wrote: and i reckon kit's latest dyno result put paid to any claims the 4G54 is better than the 4G63 sohc...
of the first few quick 4g63 DOHC starion swaps I've seen;
one: on mitsu ecu, w58 gearbox, t3/t4 did 12.8
another: haltec, t3/t4 did 11.8 (hard runs broke the starion gearbox afterwards)
No quicker than a 2.6 with similar mods in the same car.
while I like 'em both...... G54 is no "pushover".

342.6hp AT THE WHEELS with a little GT2871R, on ONLY 21psi boost? and pump fuel (98 RON) as opposed to the 2.6's with bigger turbo's and 30+psi? on C16 etc? and believe me that engine is a simple build, nothing exotic.
cant wait til someone over here actually does a GT35R or similar on a built 63 sohc pushing 35psi..
ps you cant get a torque reading from a chassis dyno. inertia dyno's are not worth a pinch IMO..

tq reading over rpms tells exactly what a motor is doing, enabling many to wring theredzone wrote:342.6hp AT THE WHEELS with a little GT2871R, on ONLY 21psi boost? and pump fuel (98 RON) as opposed to the 2.6's with bigger turbo's and 30+psi? on C16 etc? and believe me that engine is a simple build, nothing exotic.

most out of a particular combination. Regardless of how we rate dynos, the info is
all relative, useful to many and reflected in their ETs.
Peak hp is only a 'number'.
ET is the moment of truth imo. Thats why I made the 63 DOHC swap ET comparison.
Heavier u.s. spec starquests ET solid 11s on pump gas
G54 popular into lighter old school rides, where simple setups gone 9s. Good stuff
from an old 2 valve 4cyl in a full weight daily driver, any way you slice it
I've always been curious what acceleration numbers a full tilt 63 sohc is capable of
So has been my goal to max out a 2.0 then onto the 2.4 sohc

its the axle shaft that runs through the rear suspension upright, i have sold a 5 stud setup but it has 89 rear stubs and i didnt realise the spline is bigger, the aussie 4 bolt inner flanges dont go on.airbats801 wrote:comeone redzone, stop hating on the g54b :D
btw, I missed your msg the other night, you need the splined portion of the rear cv's?
ps quest, what about joedogs twin cam running 9's?
and yes i'm keen to see what a sohc 63 is capable of, if guys over here can get a dirty old gemini G180 sohc pulling 450 rwhp on a dyno dynamics and 9.1's in a full weight street car then a 2.0 63 sohc should be able to pull deep into the 10's in a starion. we just need someone who has the balls to run 35+ psi into one.
when i get my twin cam in the widey i will be. (occasionally) :pimp

Three cheers Airbats!.
I'm fortunate enough to own a 1988 JDM Starion (engine) and a 1985 JB Starion car..........4G54 turbo Starion vs 4G63 turbo Starion?.
Both have OHC
Both have detonation sensor
Both with piston oil jets...oh no only the DOHC 4G63 has.
The engine management system is superior to the 4G63 Australian Starion one (as you would expect).
Ive owned a 4G54 sigma with 260,000km on and it used less oil than the starion with equal kms on.
Overtaking up a hill in my sigma turbo (2.6),felt like going downhill, had a 4G63 been under the bonnet, just would have spun the wheels .The torques pretty fun looking forward to getting it running again.
Heres a quick one!
