There used to be a guy in the US by the name of Heron, made an exhaust system and a few other things... haven't heard from him in 5 years maybe.

So....can someone please request the chasis no. on the white unit? Let's see if it actually has the A184A code?
Or will it be the A183A code as it has a 2L 8 valve engine???

Hrmm, perhaps I am mistaken about the A183A/A184A prefix, the chassis number of this white one is JMAA183AMJZ400157.

Re Chassis Code

JMAA183AMJZ400157

From the workshop manual:

Country of manufacture......................... J = Japan
Maker.................................................. M = Mitsubishi
Destination & Steering Wheel Location..... A = For Europe, Right Hand
Vehicle Type......................................... A = Passenger Car
Vehicle Line............................................ 18 = Starion
Engine Displacement................................ 3 = 1997 cc (7 = 2.555)
Body Type.............................................. A = Body integral with frame
Body Style.............................................. M = Hatchback
Model Year.............................................. J = 1988
Plant....................................................... Z = Okazaki
Transmission Type.................................... 4 = 5 speed manual trans
Sequence number...................................... 00157

No where in any references to the Chassis number or shorter Model Code have i seen anything that said "Narrow" or "wide", therefore as we have seen with both this chassis number and Roberts it seems that both Narrow Body and Wide Body with a 2 litre have been an A183 and both Narrow Body and Wide Body with a 2.6 litre have been an A187. We have also seen Widebody Dash's with A184 so would be interesting to know if the Narrow Body Dash is an A184 as well as it seems that 3, 4, 7 indicates engine type not body type.

^^^^ Thanks Kiwi, great info.

Again the Japs have confused us with their models and options available on these cars. All my Dash powered (narrowbody) Starions that I have owned have the A183A prefix...
