As soon as you confirm with the police that he has made it, make an appointment to see the constable about his report and to verify which lane he stated he was in, they might say that's for the court to decide, but tell them its not going to court so it has to dealt by the police directly and have them follow it up by pressing charges for lying if he does so :D
should i do this now or later? i just payed my excess, and am waiting for my insurance to call me and tell me how the dispute is going..

Do it now, or as soon as you can because I'm 99% sure that it won't go to court now that your insurance is taking care of it. Though I would only do it if I felt the guy was a real arsshole and deserved it.......

You also have to word it correctly/politely when speaking with the police to convince them to check his report and go out of their way to file charges, because they hate dicks aswell and if you explain it to them how much of a dick/cocky c*nt he was being when you were by yourself then they'll generally be glad to help you out.

It'ld be better if you called them up and hassled them about it otherwise they'll just keep you excess payment even if its not your fault till you give them some shit about it.

took it to a panel beater for a quote today..

they said no need from new panels, just the grille and cracked parking light will be replaced.. they quoted $2200 for an insurance job or $1400 if its private (for me)..

they said the bumper can be fixed/straightened.. do u guys reckon it can be fixed/straightened?

i've been told that once the rubber has been stretched you can't get it straight again... except for maybe reheating it again? not sure but it wasn't easy / worth it.

yeah

yeah they should be able to straighten it again.. mine was bent in the middle and we got it reasonably straight and that was doing it ourselves at home.. we could never get it perfect though, but thats cos i do things by halves, as you can see by my car STILL in undercoat rofl

but i dont know how long it should be left between it bending and getting it fixed.. we fixed mine the same night so the rubber doesnt go hard in its new found position..

and i know the bumpers arent that strong normally, but i doubt its going to be very strong at all after its been bent out of shape then straightened again... if your planning on getting a new spoiler for your car anyway, just let them fix that one, buy your new one and sell the fixed one to someone off here.. lol

i thought that the starion bars were kind of impact resistant? meaning when they receive a knock/bump, over some time they will pop themselves out as best they can. Usually in a close to new state.
My rear bar was bumped by the previous owner and it has popped out o.k. Maybe i was just lucky.
Has anyone else heard this about the starion bars??

There's this sort of foamy stuff between the rubbery skin bit and the actual frame of the bar - if something hits that there is a chance the foam stuff will absorb the impact. It doesn't help when a moron backs into you with their towbar (speaking from experience).

my back bumper was hit on the drivers side corner by the lady down the road and the corner just broke off lol.. so i bought another one..

as for the front bumper, if you take it apart you will probably find where the metal and the foam bits touch the metal will have a fair bit of rust in there.. so im not sure about them popping back into place.. mine nearly snapped it was so weak...
although accidents like that happen for a reason, mine was so i could get the front bar thats on my starion now rofl
