I was under impression the American LSDs wont bolt in?

83-87 will, 88-89 wont.
If you have a JB with a larger diff housing, the torque tubes are the same. You could probably even transplant in just the centre.
If you have a JA or JB with small diff housing, you need the lot.

Chicago is in MI, which is on the east coast (to my knowlegde)
Texas is south...

It's alot more expensive to ship from the east coast - I got my stuff from Georgia which is on the east and shipping costs were crazy.
