In Sweden(/Scandinavia) ther's not enough old-school Mitsu's, period!jwebb2876 wrote:...I think there's not enough old-school Mitsu's in general being slid... :beer
Sounds good!! Yeh I reckon Scorpion's on the drift track would be even rarer, if not non existant at all at the moment!jwebb2876 wrote:Do the Starion's lesser cousins count? lol :P
I intend on hitting up a few practice days and Matsuri events in my Scorpion once it's somewhat finished, still needs suspension, steer tyres, more lock, more front track, a pair of 14x8;s for the rear and rego but still.
I think there's not enough old-school Mitsu's in general being slid, good to see I'm not the only one interested in doing so :beer
Also, I love your signature! :Djwebb2876 wrote:"Speed isn't everything; you gotta look cool on the touge too."- Keiichi Tsuchiya
Yeh that's a good point ay. That photo of my on JB drifting with the white bonnet on it was with it TOTALLY stock - just a good LSD. Altho admittedly the shockers were shot, and really would have benefitted from stiffer springs, but still did a great job and got me the practise I needed.redzone wrote:Starion setup will be different to a scorpion due to the starion's shorter wheel base & irs..
One thing I've noticed, is that a lot of beginners seem to think you need all these crazy mods to be a successful drifter, where all you really need is lots of track time.
Simple car setup with minimal mods is often the best as when you're bouncing over ripple strips & having off track excursions your wheel alignment can get knocked out pretty easily...
Yeh I reckon that should easily get you going! Only thing is with modded knuckles they're not street legal (and infact insurance wouldn't cover you if something did happen). They're not an essential mod though, plenty of drift cars out there without em. Even if you just remove the lock stop lumps on the knuckles you'll get heaps more lock :) Will be keen to hear how it goes if you do go ahead and drift it! :)jwebb2876 wrote:I figured as much. Shouldn't be too much of a problem, pretty sure I'll figure something out :)
Not aiming for a top-notch amazingly complicated setup, just shocks, springs, bushes, a locked diff and shortened steering knuckles. I'll work out alignments as I go, and I need to register it because I'm in the middle of nowhere and the closest track is Mt Panorama.
That's encouraging to hear actually - cos before I discovered the D2's I started down the road of having some adjustable coilovers custom made, and I ordered some really firm rear springs. Then once the D2's came out I started to think I should've just got them! But my custom ones will be complete soon so I'll be keen to see how they go, and perhaps I don't mind so much now about spending this effort since you say the D2's may be a bit soft!ProZac wrote:After living with the D2's for a while now, I reckon you'd need some firmer rear springs than the one they come with also.
Wonderful for the road though :)
