Just had a look @ the engine numbers (chassis plate and stuff) and i couldnt tell if it was a ja or a jb, the only difference that i noted was:
- the lack of vents on the bonnet
- the belts from the engine (i think they lead to the starter motor) go to the other side. in my red car they lead to the right side of the bottom of the engine, in the grey one they lead to the left side of the bottom of the engine.
anyone know how to identify if its a JB or not?
if it is a JB can the engine be easily changed between cars (the one in the new car - grey - is much better!)?
TIA

Well you said 1984
Was the 1984 Starion a JA or JB is the question. I can't remember.
My 85 is a JB I know that
I think its a JA, judging by the bumper, however it could be a replacement. It really doesn't matter anyway, JA/JB parts interchange no problem - as do many JD parts. So if its a parts car, go hard.

Open Diff - one wheel is forced to turn, other at its own leisure - e.g. when you wheelspin only one wheel spins, the other just sits there and goes 'dahhh'
Limited Slip Diff - one wheel is forced to turn, other at its own leisure, but if its being a lazy ass, the differential detects too much torque on one wheel, and forces the other to spin as well (locks 50/50 torque split)
As far as uses - you can do power u-turns, when you race off the line you basically have almost twice the grip, you can predict drifts easier, and less torque steer after a wheelspin take off (as when it gets grip, both wheels are at the same speed) or drift.
D60 owns you.
