Just as an aside Bao, the head on my motor has some porting work done and the cam has been re-profiled slightly with a fraction more lift.

So its not a bad combo. :D

These questions are always difficult to answer because of so many factors to consider .

While the DOHC is 'better' for several reasons , once modified in that manner , it's kind of a point of no return for most cars .

The power of the SOHC is also well proven , and there is enough info out there to enable you to get around it's achilles heels .
There really is something to be said about keeping it 'original' and being quicker than other cars that 'should' be faster . There's also the question of when does it stop being a Starion ? ( think about what I mean )

If it was me , the answer to your question is : if the car is original and in fairly good condition then stay SOHC for sure .

If the car is a heap of shit that needs a lot of work and or is already very unoriginal then go the DOHC .

I have been considering my options and have narrowed down the engine combo to either the dash or the dohc. In the end which engine gets choosen will depends on my plans with the car, which will include track days but gone are they days of having a stripped out starion.

Not having much parts availability just goes with owning a starion, that said i am considering that too, but from what greg has said, the differences are mainly on the inlet side.
