Back to basics...

How much power does it make now?
How much power do you want?
Add to that

How much money to do you have to do the job properly.

I think you ought to just stick with the SOHC as Bodeo suggests. Spend any dosh you have lying around on brakes and suspension for a better all round driver.

the stroker using the 2.4 crank along with the 2.4 head will be perfect .

the head will need milling 1.2 mm and gen 1 pistons will see 8-1 comp depending on dish . flat tops will cost more $$$$ , but off the shelf units fine .

problems are h/gskets for the 2.4 head , solution will be copper and 0-ring job , or a graphlex , this wont hold more than 20 psi .

h/studs kits are not available and im 90% certain you cant mill down the 4g54's or use spacers .

next problem may be the box . the tourque will give it a run for its life .

money???? depends on what you want to spend , the combos are endless .

Head gaskets a problem ??? Cometic make them
Plenty of pistons available with rings for app$ 800
Starion vr4 has already installed a 4G64 TC in his JA and has it running in non turbo atm while he decides which turbo to bolt onto the Gonzo manifold
My vote goes to the 2.4

head gaskets to suit 2.4 head he was talking about rad..

but 4G54 studs absolutely positively do work, rads engine has them in it.

yep thats it .

with the case of the studs , i assume there have been spacers used in place .
from what i am aware of the size of the 4g54 and the 4g63 sohc heads are different , but im not 100% ..
i have milled one down and have not botherd to check prior , but i dought 1.2 mm will have made any major impact .

yep we used 10mm spacers in rad's engine as they were available quickly and easily via tomsun. another possible way would be milling the top of the thread down in the block so the studs sit lower (check obviously everything first) thats how i fitted the RB26 studs to my rodeo engine in my gemini....
