On mrb's website there is a link to a Starion website in Japan, I babelfish'd it, and wow, lots of history in that thing.
URL: http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfis ... tarion.htm
1982 Range, GSR's, GX and the X (which I dont think was actually released) http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfis ... fdom82.htm
The car at the top of that page, looks kind of familiar
Also GSR-X and GSR-III have 10mm more width than the other models.
The listings are GSR-X GSR-III GSR-II GSR-I and GX. The square and the V is what happens when babelfish tries to translate III to english

Toysrus you want to race me or Decoy? In a straight line with me "catch you later"? when the corner comes up "hey get back here lil bitch!"
Someone said we should compare the staz to another manufacturer eg Mazda RX-7. The Rotary car has more in all areas except engine life expectancy. back in the day it was compared to s2 and 3's when the wide body was released it was compared to a series 4.
To me that aint fair.
A friend of mine loves rotary cars and gives me grief for it all the time. I just want to race a series 6 with the current set up. If I beat him I know he will shut up. I will probably drop one into my next project if I dont go for a VR4 or 2.6.(dont worry it wont be a staz)

fwd, rwd, why not take both and get awd?!?!..
vr4 baby.. haha
nah.. personally i think it all depends on what you prefer
fwd's are challenging to mod / drive..
rwd's are wicked fun.. sideways action.. launching is a realy bitch though (with too much power.. but i guess its the same with fwd)
as for awd.. nothing beats an awd launch..6k rev.. slip the clutch and pop.. 1.6 - 1.8 60 ft's on shitty tyres.. but it can get a bit boring at times (no wheel spin, understeer during corners..)
anyways.. heres something ill leave with you guys.. i'd loooooove to corner like this one day.. =) when i get my vr4 back..

as for straight line.. not bad without nos hey?!?!..

Des Gibbs (the guy I used to crew for) used to race a Cordia before the Starion. The Starion was a lot quicker even with the extra weight. It had a lot more top end and was a much better all round package.
Remembering here we had to race on the stock rims, etc.
However the Cordia is still a quick fun car but I am not a fan of FWD. Maybe drag racing is a bit different car dynamics not such a big issue.

mrb1, hehe, the problem with the Cordia is the standard chassis is a weak link along with the un-equal length driveshaft's and then the trailing arm Rear-suspension along with the rear-drum brakes
What modifications were allowed under the rules to be performed when Gibbs was racing them ? (unsure if CAMS existed back then) :P

its launch control, it lowers the rev limiter so you can hold your foot flat to the floor for boost but not get massive wheelspin like you would if you ran it off redline.StazzyBabyYeah wrote:what was that detonating in the second video, some kind of constant turbo spool from the ECU?
Damn quick though
Yes CAMS did exist back then of course. Only mods for GroupE were exhaust free after first join, shocks free but had to use standard springs, allowed to fit a "race seat" although we did not (thinking back probably should have would have saved some weight), brake pads were free and you were allowed to remove backing plates, had to use approved "R" compound tyres (there was a list) we started off using Yokoharma A001R's we also used Bridgestones and Dunlops as the tyres improved a lot over the years. I remember we went back to Winton the next year with the exact same setup and went 2 seconds quicker because of the tyres.toysrus wrote:mrb1, hehe, the problem with the Cordia is the standard chassis is a weak link along with the un-equal length driveshaft's and then the trailing arm Rear-suspension along with the rear-drum brakes

Well that didn't leave the Cordia with much chance then.......the Rear disc brake conversion will be done within the next 2 months, along with the VR4 Passenger side 2-piece driveshaft and plenty of extra spot-welding along the chassis :P
Also fabricating a custom top bracket for the Rear-suspension to run off the shelf Tein Coil-overs' all round later on in the year
Hopefully the weight difference can them come into it's own over you starions :D
Just a quick question, there was a place here in Australia that sells those approx 3Kg very plain fibreglass seats with padding, about $300 each new if I remember right......any idea on the name of these and who still sells them at the right price ?
