Blew the clutch tonight at the drags.... :(
I have a soild brass button clutch in mine and it is fairly easy to drive on the street (well, for me anyway). A few people off here have been in it and can testify to how smooth it feels compared to others. They are not meant to be slipped, but I preload mine sometimes and haven't had any problems with it.

I had a sprung center paddle clutch in mine b4 i went to the current set-up......id never have one again..!!
it was a bastard to get of the line with a non stock turbo because it had to spool and launch so high in the rpm the paddle clutch used to be on or off...and it fucked the fly wheel realy quick..about 18 months

Fuck I hate Starions....
Mine is a 5 puck. A spring centre is much easier for everyday driving and less stress on the driveline. By preload I mean I would let the clutch out enough to place some load on the engine in order to generate some boost before releasing the solid centre clutch. With a spring centre, this is not necessary as the clutch can be slipped. With preloading a brass solid centre, the car can sometimes shudder.
I had a paddle sprung clutch before my current clutch. It didnt last long.

Got the car back today, am pretty pleased. The clutch feel is almost the lightest ive ever felt - like a feather, though it clamps very hard - chirps 3rd easy as, havent tried other gears.
I would have thought that being a 2300pound pressure plate/button clutch would feel somewhat tough to drive, though if not knowing it, i would say it was a stock clutch!
Oh, the clutch guys said the throwout bearing that was used previously was the wrong sort and would have lead to the pedal feeling wayyy heavier than it should.
