Pot hole + 17" = damaged rim

Raining in melbourne tonight. My sister didnt see a pot hole travelling @ 60km on the way home. which equals to a damaged rim.

She has taken pics of the hole and her damaged rim. Who do we need to contact to pay for this or to replace??

What would you guys do?

Thanks

I've heard of people getting money from the council, but the success rate isn't high

loophole might be that the car isn't supposed to have 17s on it legally (2" max over std here).

I was driving back to vic from canberra on a very rainy day and drove over two very large pot holes in a proton M21 coupe, bent two rims (16s), destroyed the front shock, the whole car flexed and created a crack in the centre or the windscreen at the bottom which has run right across the left hand side of it. couldnt avoid them at all as there were trucks going in all directions and i didnt see them til i was nearly over them. also saw a very expensive looking mercedes pulled over further up the road with two flat tyres and what i suspect were bent rims also.

Should definately put in a claim to the local council of the area.

If the car is standard and you've got comprehensive insurance, te;; 'em to go after the council for it  believe me when they hav an Insurance company knocking on their door, they're more inclined to talk business than if you decided to take action through a lawyer etc Just pay the excess and be done with it  unless you did't have insurance for it

Best be would be to take the wheels down to them and speak to them yourself, without seeing the rim it's hard to tell. I've seen what they have repaired, i personally thought they could'nt be fixed. A week and a bit later they came back brand spankers.
They have all of the equipment to fix up busted rims, pay them a visit, you won't be dissapointed.

They were massive pot holes, an M21 is basically a mitsubishi lancer on roids... they're pretty tuff (like they have evo suspension etc)
