considering its pretty easy to build a 10 second street supra in japan i haven't got a problem with believing the supra whipped the ferrari. the euro's had their day but the stuff coming out of japan (and america) these days are either pretty damn close or better than ferrari/lamborghini.

that said i'd still kill for a drive of one, the look can beat almost anything else hands down.

and the motec exhaust? i laughed when i heard that too but i actually found them while looking through an american website one day.

its still a bit out there for believability but its the closest thing we've got to mainstream car porn type movies, can anybody name anything better with the sort of cars we're into?

cheers
Matt

CussCuss wrote:yes the movie is inacurate, but the thnig about the supra race is that it was infact inacurate, the ferrari would have got convincingly stomped allot more than it did, a stock supra does the 1/4 in 13.5 vs 13.0 for the rarri, i wouldnt take a lot to beat that overpriced badge.
They weren't on a drag strip, they were on a highway. If the supra was designed for drag racing she would have topped out at best in the mid 200kph. The Ferrari will pull like a freight train all the way to 290kph. The cars are designed for different purposes. I am also partial to prancing stallion so I could just be one eyed.

no actually at the supposed speed that supra was capable of (9.0 sec 1/4) it would be doing at least 250km/h by the end of the 1/4 mile. And thats assuming they geared it perfectly for 1/4.

Also its a well known fact that supras are one of the most highly used highway racers out there, they are at there best from 100km/h+ due to the shithouse traction down low. The 2jz and allot of the supra package is a fucking wonderfully overengineered piece of machinery.
