Oil Cooler

Post by Barney »

I just fitted a new oil cooler. It was one of those dream jobs where it all goes right and you have no hassels :)

The cooler bollted straight in, I then fitted a new oil pump housing the one with the oil cooler fittings (sapporo has no oil cooler)

I now have my first braided hose :D for the turbo oil feed.

The best thing of all is that its the first time the car has had no oil leaks :D

schweet, i was looking at the new H.P.I, zoom and Hot 4's and they have advertised a Oil catch can, as well as surge tanks. Apparently you can now get these through the larger Autobahn stores.
Another nice piece of shiny metal in the engine bay.
was it a nice straight forward job??

When i was in Melbourne i went to an Autobarn store, it blew me away :o Our auto shops are no where near as good :(
They seem to only want to stock seat covers and floor mats :(

The cooler went straight in. The mounting bolts screwed into the threaded front sub fram of the car. (no need to drill)

I believe the cooler is off a Ralliart Colt/Galant from the mid 80's, I could be wrong. Its huge 550mm long x 100mm high x 50mm thick. It came with all the race type fittings :D

madness, i guess that sometimes i take it for granted to super auto store's that we have out here in the burbs.
Though Autobahn has picked up it's act in the past couple of years to cater for the growing import and 4 cyl performance fraternity.
They now have guages (many brands), sports buckets, exhausts, intercoolers and many many more go fast bits. Nothing like the ol autopro days.
I feel your pain.

If you went into one of our auto shops and asked for an intercooler you would walk out with an Esky

rofl
i was in sydney ova chrissy last year, i didn't get much of a chance to stick around and see too much as i was in the blue mountains ( absolutely beautiful). i think i will return this year with the stazz in tow and really get to enjoy that 11+ hr drive.

Most of the auto shops that i go to in melbourne have no idea what a starion is, they think that it's something to do with a cordia.
HMMMMMPPPHHHHHH.
I don't think so tim.
:x
There is a certain kinda pride owning a car that's not all that common on the road.
It's a kinda love hate relationship, especially when you need to source some parts.
