transport dept flag on a car in NSW

Post by groupAralliart »

Any one explain what a 'flag' could be in relation to a registered car in NSW? My new car has come up with a flag when I tried to register it up here in QLD. tRANSPORT WON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS ABOUT UNTIL TOMORROW AND i AM STRESSING!! I checked with REVS etc prior to purchase and all was fine so I have noidea what this might be about?

If it happens in vic it's because a TMU copper has noted it has illegal modifications or it's been marked stolen. One or the other.

Not sure about NSW tho.

I hope it is not the case. ( I had this happen )
A VIN number flag can come up as "REPAIRABLE WRITEOFF"
the vin flagged as being beyond economic repair , can be registered but will require a Qld Transport inspection. ($)

stolen recovered, or more accurately stripped: evidently the original owner had the car stored while over seas and it was stripped of everything bar the dash and running gear. The insurance company wrote it off and he bought it from them and put it back to gether with the payout, pocketed some cash I imagine. The guy I bought it off has paid the inspection fee but QLD transport are stupid and need to see the original certificate receipt which they should have by now. I was fairly stressed and thank god I bought it for a very good price knowing that now it may be a poor selling point later down the track. I love it and it is in great nick so no real issue for me I guess. Just drive it and enjoy.

the interior has done under 10K ! I thought it was in great nick. The seller was a little sly in not fully answering some of my queries but I should have picked it up in the searches I paid for anyway. Great car and I am very happy with it.
