simple lowering for your starion - no need to remove struts

Post by crshbndct »

just get a blow torch on the spring... when you heat it up the weight of the car will compress it by bending the coil you have heated up. easy.

(this is why i couldnt get the top nuts off of the struts. the car had enormously long bump stops and the springs were only semi captive at rest)

pics up soon.

Hell, we were doing that back in the 70's. Was illegal back then, & still illegal today. (But only if you get caught !!)

I would have a laugh at crshbndct's expense but I'd be dishonest if I said I hadn't done it too. I had this old bomb KE70 corolla that I wanted dumped so I put some blocks of wood under it at the height I wanted then got out the oxy

Worked well I would have sworn it even upped the spring rate, although could have just been the rubber bump stops.

lol and if you accidentally miss the spot your aiming for then dont worry youll just end up burning off the brake caliper dust covers ...na you dont need those ...just leave it[ unless you want the pins seized inside and no brakes! ]
