A Mystery Uncovered

Post by Darkelf »

A while back I replaced my headlights with ultrabrights and then discovered that my driving lights were very dim.

I thought the new headlights were pulling more power and posted asking what people reckoned. There were various theories.

Well we replaced a bulb in the Hoon mobile this arvo. JD driving lights 12v 55W as you would expect! We then went to replace my driving lights and lo and behold in my JB I have 12v 35w!!!! Which explains why the buggers look so dim.

Interestingly enough my bulbs were also different being smaller with and odd wire attachment and a different config to the bulb and housing.

Now the question is, after the rebuild where the hell did these driving lights come from? They are certainly not JDs as we have two in perfect knick that are not the same. So are these standard JBs, or some sort of early JB??

I just find it odd that JB and JD driving lights are not the same.

Anyone know the answer????

ive noticed that not all of the driving light modules are the same, some are futher back into the bumper, and some are almost flush, see pics:

I think 86 might be the year of change, for imports, NZ new and EURO anyway, as any 87 starion ive seen has the flusher bumper.

Mr Elf, stop staring at the LED washer nozzles. They are burning a hole in your brain.
