staritron (sp?) used to call his Captain Breakdown

Mine got its name because:

Boost gauge rattles
Gearbox vibrations
Something loose in engine bay
Black shield under the window wipers is also slightly loose on one side
Cant forget the typical 'its too damn cold, you asshole' noise the cams make in the morning for a few minutes.
and engine knocking just topped it off :)

Its a rattler alright.
I want to name the Galant, but its too damn boring, I tend to call it the GOlant though, since it goes.

Golant? Hehehe, Not bad! It's good to have a car that drives!

I have more than one, but I shall only name the Starions that drive...

My red JA has been called a lot of things, by me and others, but the name that always seems to resurface is...

'Bunky'

It's nice to have my 'Bunky' on the road again though!

Good 'Bunky'
Nice 'Bunky'
Please keep going 'Bunky'!!!

Oh yeah, in answer to the question MPI and an EMS for my JA, and that's $2,000 gone.

you know, theres a bit of a common thread running through this discussion.
staz owners are happier with their staz if it goes, preferably reliably.
$2k wont make reliable bulk horsepower, though it could push an old donk to the point of expiring.
we ALL like our staz, and other peoples staz to look NICE,
and rust aint nice.
a dungy interior aint nice.
not running aint nice.
$2k will go a long way towards making a staz run reliably,
and they go ok standard anyway, otherwise we would not be interested.
my daughters staz started out as a $500 clunker, but the donk was good.
we have progressively improved it, to her satisfaction, in all areas except performance. she is happy when it runs, and NOT happy when some misserabe 20 year old $5 part says enough, stop the car now!
my advice, its better to be happy, lifes to short, make it run and not be a social embarrasment.

Spend it on the one area.

i.e Interior or Exterior or Driveline. Do one thing at a time

I'd spend it on the engine, if you're getting a rebuild anyway, then there ya go. The stock engine can handle a little bit of power anyway, so if you want to chuck a bit of boost and cooler onto that a bit later on, then you're laughing.

As merlin says, the main thing is that the car runs, and the engines the main part of that (though it doesn't help when your steering self destructs).

1st rule of car modding - Make sure the car is running properly before you start spending money in other areas.
