I am considering my options with my cars .
I have previously owned 2.6Lt sigma turbo engines , but I think I need a new bottom end now!
Recently I purchased a fairly worn out ...but cheap, JB Mitsu. Starion.
With my sigmas I have made 205 rwhp on 17psi with a TO4 etc , and I would like to know how much far I can go with the standard 2.0Lt starion engine with only breathing(exhaust/air filter and front mount intercoler)and a little extra boost modifications , past the standard 13psi to the highest safe level possible.
No plan to upgrade the EFI..
Any advice appreciated..... What is the maximum power achievable in your opinion?.
Will it top 300 hp at the flywheel?.
TA :)

Thanks for that .
I was considering just installing a intercooler I have lying around from a GSR.See photo.
Will this alone help improve power or drivability ?? [img]

i would say that it would probably do a hell of a lot better with no beer box blocking it.. but it may be some "supar sekrat" ducting system ala rogercordia

blow thru system with lpg works very very well with standard sigma turbo set up and minimal mods .
you will need to get at least a 380cfm gas research carby , twin gas lines and 2 x b2b convertors (the older type ones with metal tops not plastic )
the stock set up is suck thru , this set up places the gas carby on the other end after the turbo not before , a t04 will be ok .
ignition system needs to be super duper upgraded for gas , crane fireball or msd 6al will do the trick .
here is the hard stuff , track down an ignition only computer , haltec IG5 if possible , this will help with tuning purpose and enable map changing simpler .
lpg is 110 octane rating and very cheap oposed to race gas .
there is a trick regarding this set up that is not legal , but im sure any person running lpg performance type stuff will let you in on .
power will be 300 at the rear , easy , no ifs no butts , no bull shit , its been done to 30 sigmas down vic way , times vary to around the low end of 11 's , this will need 21psi , copper h/gasket acl hypertecs at least and a head stud kit .
if you do the work your self 2-3 k will get you there .
s/h gas system 250 , convertors 50 bucks each , gas carby 600 , coputer s/h 300 , msd 450 , plumbing and fittings 400 , and then the motor .
and last but not least , stock up on boxes and diffs as these go boom with all the torque , at least in a sigma the diffs can be locked and are available for less than 50 bucks , starion set up will ripp the shafts out and this will hurt you budget ,
ps , the rotten egg smell after a high boost run will drive you mad ....

THANK YOU ZIPPO FOR THAT INFO, BUT UNFORTUNATELY I AM IN QLD.
I May have found some one to do a full gas system for the 2.6LT.
The turbo will require a Carbon seal.
Apparently there is no power gains from Gas as opposed to petrol...and the engine will not last as long (where the fuel goes that is) ..... Fortunately I have a spare M6 :)
Also i 've been told to only get a Gas research carby as they are tunable.
Cheers

rods are not a drama, stock pistons are, rad (old fart) has reached 280hp atw with stock pistons, but they're ceramic coated and the engine was built properly (balanced etc)TommiCrazy wrote:Sigma turbzz can You do 270 hp using a stock pistons and roods?
for most people, 15 psi seems to be about the limit for durability with stock pistons. they break ring lands REAL easy.
Fibreglass airdams $370, fibreglass front bumpers $260, reco drag links $165, alloy radiators $925 (unpolished), h/l switch rebuilds $125, all plus freight.
