Flats spots and 5500 rpm top
Hay all
Thanks for the help with the last question, now for today's!
I have recently bought my Station so have no idea on its service history, the first thing I did was full service, new filters, plugs and leads, this has made the car a lot better but
It wont really rev past 5500 rpm, gets there quick enough but nothing after that
Second its got a major flat spot from about 1500 to 2000 rpm
I am guessing these two things are related, any ideas on what I should look at or do first?

You bought a Station!!!??? How rich are you???? :omuttis3lv6 wrote: I have recently bought my Station
check all of the little vacuum hoses under the bonnet. One disconnected/split hose and you can have dramas.
Let us know how you go...

The car was $2k, i have since spent another G on it and now have two new tires sports wheel roadworthy and 6 months rego, v happy.
The Starion does not produce power past 5500rpm
OK but does it rev past 5500 or is the 6000 red line a dream line?
as for the flat spot up to 2k.. its turbo lag
So does yours try to stall most of the time taking off from the lights?
Now got a new one to add, coming down Mt Glorious hard on the breaks felt a little pop and now have no break booster, have checked the vac hoses and they are all good to the booster, ideas? all i can think of is the diafram inside the booster

Yes it will rev past 5500rpm but the best power / torque is produced before 5500rpm.
No starions don't stall at these low rpm but the real powerband is from about 2500rpm onwards.
May be an issue if you are having severe power loss or stalling at these low rev ranges.

OK so in answer to my orginal question,
wont rev past 5500 = bad
flat spot 1500 - 2000 = bad
is there anything simple apart from vacume hoses that i should be checkign doing or do i need to call for help?

Have you checked all the simple things like timing etc? Timing may need to be advanced a bit. What turbo is on it? Makes a difference to your lag and top end. TC06 has a crappy bottom end like yours sounds like but it'll have a better top end. TC05 will spool up quicker but run out of puff up top. Which also sounds like yours!
