Hi guys,

I just came from trip, and started my Starion, everything was ok, when the secundary air celaner (what purpose does it have in engine?! :) ) broke, I repaired it today and when I go for a test drive I got "blow off vent noise".

How can I explain :), car runs great, but when I shift gears or in a gear leave the throtle pedal I get the noise like I installed blow off ventile :).

Does anyone have an idea what this is? Preformance of the car is normal, like it should be.

Thanks all!

:( the best thing is that I dont know anybody else to ask, because I am the only one in Cro. :(

But I am considering to move to Australia :)

Can you post up a pic of your engine bay? Don't know what you mean by secondary air cleaner. Maybe it is a BOV!

Eliminate it!! And make a block off plate for the EGR as well... less ugly vacuum hoses.

The dotted line is the metal pipe. Remove what you have circled in the yellow, and the metal pipe connected to it.
You'll have to unbolt the metal pipe from the back of the down pipe

Then cut the metal pipe so you can remove the threaded portion

Put a coin (here is a US quarter) in the downpipe hole to block it

Then screw the threaded portion back in to hold the coin.

:) :)

What to say, you have drink when I came to Australia or you to Croatia :)

So what will I get with this? :)

Haha... a drink would definitely be in the picture... but, I'm in the United States. I visit the Austrailia forums cuz I like the way these guys do a narrowbody Starion. Have you visted the US starion forums?? I'm sure they'd love to hear from you, and see pics of your car.

When you remove that junk, you'll no longer have burnt exhaust gas entering your clean intake air!!

Probably a leak in the secondary air cleaner... venting your boost. If you remove it, and it goes away... that's two birds with one stone!!

Is your oxygen sensor hooked up?? In the pics it doesn't look like it...

Haha, if you come to the USA we'll for sure meet up and get all the Starion guys together.

It's bolted onto your downpipe, a few inches after the turbo. You can see it sticking out of the heatshield. It's a one wire connection...

www.starquestclub.com

Register there!! TONS of info for new owners, and links full factory service manual, many knowledgeable and friendly people... not as friendly as the Austrailian bunch though!!

Judging by your pics, I would say your car is an 87 model. There's lots of info on starquestclub.com that'll get your car running tip top... like checking the ECU error codes, TPS/ISC reset... info for your 2.6 is more popular there as most Austrailian models are 2.0 lucky guys.
