Throttle body choice

Hey all
Was just wondering what the general opinion was on an xf falcon TB vs a evo 1 TB for a twincam conversion.
Ive read that idle control can be an issue using the xf one, so is it going to be easier to use the evo one? Or is it worth the effort sorting the xf one? Im getting the manifold ends changed this week, so need to know what flange to have put on.
Tks

there 60mm easy as to find, cheap, got mine for 30 bucks and are clean and simple, no stepper motor etc

idle control valves on the early evo's are a known problem so i'd ditch that idea. why not a holden efi V8 65mm throttle? nice reliable stepper motor built in, easy to map... or u have the choice of 60mm and the short 62mm ecotec one. depends how available they are in NZ too i suppose.

You only need to worry about idle control if you plan on retaining the air con.
XF use a crappy external idle control, so I'd suggest EA onwards. Still cheap as chips.

Fine throttle control can definetly be hard with a big t/b. A progressive (cammed) throttle arm can help this.
I wouldn't call 65mm (XF/EA) big though.
I have a 75mm (LS1) t/b on my 2.6L and throttle control is not too bad.

My old twin webbered 2.6 however....
4x45mm throttles was a bitch to keep a constant speed. The difference between 100km/h & 110km/h seemed to be 0.5mm of accelerator pedal movement.

ef, el , early au work well and are 65mm , send them off to get polished or even ported if you like .

there are plenty out there , but it all depends on what you want out of it .

a freind has recently picked up a vs comm yella terra remake , goo looking unit and has fitted it to his sigma .
after all the mucking about , no great power gains , until he fitted a custom larger plenum , so hard to say if it was the plenum or the combination of both .
his vehicle is more of a strip car than a street car , so it all gose back on what you want out of it ......
for the sake of around 40 bucks early falcon is the go , try locating one out of an 88 f'lane ..

I had a XF but went to a smaller Skyline one, I think about 50 - 55mm
