Fuel Pressure reg

Has anyone had much experience with a high performance style regulator, such as Sard, HKS ect?
I'm designing my fuel system and not quite sure about fuel regulation, as Ive seen motors with these type of regs, most have being systems suporting 300odd kw, but then Ive seen standard factory regulators suporting this sort of power.
I don't want to make the rail until I know what regulator I will need to use, though looking at the jb reg, it has small inlet/oulet pipes so it may be more of a restriction, as the rail will need to be a larger diametre to flow enough fuel.
My aim is a fuel system that will suport 300k@w, so later on when I change the head, I wont need to re-fabricate too much.

Any thoughts?

Surely with those large injectors you could run the fuel system at around 45psi fuel pressure without any problems.

Yeah, perhaps so. But would the pressure change due to the large volume of the rail, instead of a small volume rail?

I would be more concerned with the fuel pump being able to maintain presuure and flow.

2 pumps side by side.

What pumps are you planning on using?

Pressure will be the same regardless of volume seeing as you have 2 pumps feeding it.

the higher the fuel pressure the better.

Not necessarily. Higher fuel pressures make it harder for the injectors to open. Doubling the fuel pressure will not result in allowing the injectors to supply twice as much fuel.

Also, if your running large injectors along with large fuel pressure you may find it hard to fine tune the fuel map, especially during small injector pulse widths such as during idle and light throttle.

That makes sense Cookie, maybe a boost regulated ,rising rate regulator would be a good solution.

sounds good, but with 45psi fuel pressure i imagine the injectors will atomise the fuel about as well as my garden hose does?

What we discussed awhile ago
