hi guys,Iv got a dash motor in my starion which I used a genuine rwd motor but used a 87 eterna wiring loom eci unit etc.It runs crap with stepper motor plugged in but runs better with it unpluged but still idles erratic(good for 10sec and then crap for a couple sec)tryed swapping it and same thing,Also when you give it a sudden step on the loud pedal it farts around but later in the rev range its smooth.Any help would be appreciated :D

I had more problems then you could poke a stick at with the stepper motor in my DASH engine so I unplugged it and then tightened the throttle cable to the right RPM, sometimes in the morning if it's cold you have to give it a bit of gas to get going but other then that it's fine.....

I have read that that alot of people have issues with overfueling on the DASH motors.... I know when mines at idle it spits fuel out the back a little sometimes leaving a nice wee black mark on the ground, so maybe a little to much fuel maybe until the turbo kicks in and leans things out a bit?

Does your car have an o2 sensor???

Probably sounds really stupid but the missfiring problem you
describe I have experienced on a mates GTS-t. Plant your foot and
it would overfuel and cough for a moment and then come right.

We tried swapping everything from my GTS-t to his to try and sort it.
Finally, like after months of messing around it was the o2 sensor.
New o2 sensor and the thing had never driven so well.

Yes it does have an o2 sensor, the motor didnt come with one when I got it so I used one off a 88 mirage that had the same plug.IS there any way of checking it?

ok couple of things you need to check out, first most important is the O-rings for the injectors 100% sur ethese will need replacing, they have a bad habit of leaking and cause the engine to over fuel.
Also check the air flow meter is connected and working, the dash motors dotn like to run with out it.
Aslo check your Spark plug leads, I use to have a bad idle and also start farting on boost was caused by worn out leads.

If you need any other info drop me a line I might be able to help

My model is a gsr-v so its already in it, But i have done a full conversion also.
the speed senosr is on the back of the speedo, which is where your wire connects to.
the ecu willrun fine with out it, to my knowledge it just tells the ecu you are doing over 110k's and also i think it may give it fuel cut, so havig it disconnected is all good you :p

are you using the dash injector system, if so you normally just need to replace the o-rings that surround th injectors, drop me a line if yea not sure on dismantling the unit

Its is leaking from the middle of the injector-I replaced the o-rings and it dosnt leak from them. :)

sorry I am using the dash ECI-I was thinking it could be the regulator that is shagged as it could be putting too much pressure through the injectors & causing them to leak :D
