This is ProZac's old starion. Ive just spent the last few weeks trying to get the thing running well but have had no luck :x

Ok, so it normally starts fine but when I rev it is just dies, then comes back to life. If its warm it will rev with no load on it, but when I drive down the road I have to baby it. If I give it to much gas it coughs and splutters.

Ive checked the AFM and the Vac advance. Ive cleaned the MAP out, had lots of oil in it. And Ive put another dissy in it.
Oh yes and the spark plugs are new cause it had some really odd looking ones in it.

Please help.

Sounds like a fuel problem to me, maybe only one injector working or bad connectors. But since you've changed distributor and plugs I'd also check static timing, and firing order, aka right plug wires onto the correct plug. basically check the simple things first.

brand new dizzy cap and rotor?

what condition are the leads in? including high tension lead

how is the coil?

Does indeed sound like a fuel problem.

A couple of things you might like to check, Jas:

First, have you tested the connectivity from the injector wiring to the circuit board in the ECU? With age, the spring fingers on the ECU connector weakens, but it's a simple matter to bend them back into working position with a jeweller's screwdriver.

Second, check that the connector to the injector solenoid resistor pack (near the airbox) is properly engaged.

Im sure its not fuel cause once its past 3000rpm it revs fine.
The firing order is right but I haven't checked the static timing. Thanks

Yes new rotor and cap.
I changed the coil and didn't make any difference. And I put another high tension lead on it some thing.

My next day off in Wednesday, ill get into it then.

In a fit of madness I pulled the computer out and put a non-intercooled one in, and its now running heeeeeeps better.

Ill pull the cover off the computer to see whats going on inside it at a later date. Sweet finaly a starion I can use as a daily driver :D
