Post by digitalsko »

the needle is all the way up all the time.
i have an l300 intake and would like to know where the sensor is and where the cable comes from so i can find it.

Loads of places can interfere with it. Start basic, try the one at the bottom of the radiator!

Nope, that's just a temp switch used to turn on the main thermo fan.

Yeah, and if it's not plugged in the temp gauge will hit the top due to heat... :D

LOL I've had the same thing happen with a sonata setup, there are two sensors around the thermostat area and I plugged into the wrong one. One's a temp sender the others a temp on/off. Look around the thermostat area for sensors and go from there. The signal wire in the engine bay is a thin yellow wire with a green stripe and branches from the main harness around the battery area from memory. I also wouldn't drive/dyno a new engine without a temp reading

hrrmmm ok.... well i have a yellow wire goin to one of two sensors but even wen i change em round the temp gauge still dont work. there is a black one there too but looks like the end has been cut off. dont know wat it is for. the computer gets the temp tho so i can see wat temp the engine runs at but its just a pain lookin at the hand controller. ill post pics up 2moro and check wires again

What does the guage read when the wire is disconnected?

I will probably be coming down to the goldy sometime this weekend and I can come and have a look if you want.

I found with the Sonata setup the temp sender that faces the firewall works with temp gauge.

No idea on L300 though.
