alarm install

Post by grothie1978 »

heya everyone

i have just purchased an alarm kit
it came with the usual, starter relay, horn, main board etc etc

i was just wondering where would be the best place to put the main board (all the wiring goes into and comes from this)
up behind the dash or in the engine bay?

It wouldn't be suitable to have the alarm module in the engine compartment because it can be damaged by heat and water.

The best place is somewhere inside your car near the footwell area behind plastics and shrouds in the surrounding area for easy access aswell.

this is the wiring diagram for a safeguard alarm
thought it might come in handy for others
For a JA wiring as follows: (From unit 2 car wiring)
12P Black = Earth
12P Red = + on battery
12P Pink = Red wire on siren
12P Brown = Green with blue trace and Green with Yellow trace (wires under steering column)

5P White = Black with white trace (wire under steering column)
5P Yellow = White on starter relay

Starter Relay:
Cut Black with White trace coming off + on coil, wire Green wires on relay into this, then connect back to coil

once its all done, you to can have a mess (that can be covered :D) like this (thats also including stereo/amp wiring harness)
all up took about 3-4 hours, including siren etc
