Never done it, so just going to give you the basics I know, and wait for someone who knows better to give you real advice:

1. Cut off the Sonata throttle
2. Weld hole closed
3. Weld off the closed end plate
4. Weld on XF Throttle

But dont go cutting stuff until someone else agrees first. That would just be my plan of attack. Its what the guys do here with the L300 Cyclone intakes.

Pretty much on the money.

*Cut Sonata throttlebody off.
*Weld up hole.
*Cut off other end of manifold.
*Make up adapter plate for XF throttlebody.
*Weld adapter plate to manifold.
*Bolt on XF throttle body.

Then it should look something like this:

I made the adapter plate myself using 10mm aluminium plate.

I get all my welding done here:

It's tig welding so it's not cheap. I can't recall actual figures though.

sorry for bringing up a dead post, are you guys talking about hyundai sonata manifolds???? or is there some sort of mitsi sonata that we dont' get over here. just didn't think they'd have the same mounting pattern but if they do it'll save me heaps cause L300 4 point manifolds are worth heaps over here cause they're so rare but there's heaps of sonata's round.

cheers
Matt

hi,my question maybe silly but really need to know, :? does this sonata manifold fit perfectly to a JA starion head without any modification and does the picture shown by cookiemonster is a sonata manifold?

thanks

The manifold itself bolts straight onto the Starion head.

The throttle body however does need to be relocated to the other end of the plenum chamber.

Yes that picture is a Sonata manifold with a Falcon throttlebody.
