Flywheel / Clutch for powerful starion

I am due for a clutch replacement on starion.

I require something that will handle 450hp flywheel as a street/strip/trackday use (not too abusive)

will a fidanza flywheel and a exedy h/d clutch be ok ?

i dunno shit about the flywheels, but, for that kind of h/p youd wanna go a brass button or ceramic exedy clutch though,
expect to lose a bit of driveability but, 450 hp!! thats decent power! :o

Yeah. its fairly quick. I currently have a brass button clutch, but am unhappy with it.

P/DASH can u post dyno sheet ???

Yes here is the last dyno sheet. car only made 1 bar boost as the BOV was opening up and releasing pressure (acting like pressure relief valve) - Bov was plumbed in incorrectly. (whislt with last owner)

have since fixed issue and would have booked in this week for further tuning, but clutch has given issues (not fully releasing) after 1/8 mile and tarmac sprint on weekend.

have supporting mods to make 450hp at flywheel (around 250-260kw atw) - limiting factors are std cams and vr4 rods.

so no ideas whether the organic friction material with uprated pressure plate will handle the power ?

I'm assuming your running the 225mm wide clutch disc setup ?

The organic disc will be fine, execpt you'll need about 2600 pounds of clamp pressure to make sure it holds 500Hp. Also be aware that the organic disc won't be happy with being slipped too much and you'll know when you've killed it as it'll never regain its original grip again........

as far as i am aware its the 225mm setup.

Cheers for the info !

a cerametallic material would be a good compromise between organic and and a brassy, excedy offer all their performance clutches in either this or organic, we had an organic 2600lb on our 450 hp vr4 and it wasn't great with organic. Too much slippage, overheating etc, however when we switched to cerametalic we had no worries and most of the drivability i'd steer clear of organic for your application especially if you intend a little drag racing.

excedy clutch busted

I just killed my 6month old excedy organic clutch with only about 230rwhp. I will probably go a ceramic button sprung center clutch from x-treme clutches. I have sold heaps of these for faily quick nissans and had only good reports. They are also cheap i sell them for around $595

Clutch Update: Clutch is out.

Defects:
- Flywheel face chewed badly. 2mm deep.
- Clutch friction plate worn (8 puck metallic of some sort on solid centre)
- Pressure plate worn, bent fingers - (was only a standard rate pressure plate)
- usual worn pilot and thrust bearings

2mm is too much to machine of the Flywheel so try and find a good used one.......

The P/P and Clutch disc decision is up to you.....any brass, carbotics', ceramic etc type will always chew away at your Flywheel.

Carbotics is the best compromise, you can try Organic if you like and don't mind changing the clutch 3 times more often etc....

hi all. i have fitted the 2.6 fidaenza flywheel and act clutch( street disc and heavy duty pressure plate), whic apprently can hold down 440 lb/ft torque!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
done around 1000miles on it, and no probs at all.
roughly running around 300lb/ft torque at the mo.

the flywheel weighs in at 11 lb, a fair bit off the standard one.
revs nice too :D
