Sirius dash intercooled import

Post by sirius dash »

I have recently imported a Sirius dash intercooled engine and i was wondering how much info anyone has on it or knows where to find it. As i have to remove the engine for a transplant.

Info, I've been looking for ages, not much you need to know, just that the cylinder head is different to any others.

Best thing you can do is to use the Sirus DASH (Dual Action Super Head) ECU to run the engine and operate the 3rd valve as intended (at 2500rpm).

200Ps engine, 279Nm @ 3500rpm

Bore/Stroke 85mm x 88mm

Compression Ratio 7.5

Aparently they have an optical dizzy, and a 3rd injector in the cross-over pipe, plus the 2 main injectors in the t/b are staged.

The exhaust manifold has internal runners.

Also the 87-88 Sirus DASH is 170ps not 200ps as the 85-86 Engines were.

Apparently, the FACTORY Intercooled version is 170Kw, let me know which turbo is on it if you can, the non intercooled version (150Kw) ran a TD05-12A, but I'm sure the extra 20kw didn't just come from using the standard turbo > intercooled ?

not too hard, only thing is you'll have to throw the head out is it needs to be fixed, plus original injectors from japan are like $1000.....

Hmmm, that all sounds about right, but 170Kw is a bit optimistic i think, 149Kw is the figure ive heard bandied about more often. Also im dubious as to the 3rd injector in the x-over pipe, Ive seen this done as a mod on 2 dash engines, but not in place from factory.

Dash Heads

Post by WANTSOM »

There's been a bit of talk on here about the Dash head. It aint such a bad thing. Depending on who you want to believe they give anywhere from 150 -170 KW (Flywheel). I've spoken to the guy who originally built my motor (now 5-6 years ago) and back then it had 150KW at the wheels on his dyno. That was with a hi flow TC06, Haltech E6A and factory cooler. There is no 3rd jet in my motor

I'll know for sure in about 3-4 weeks when the track car cranks up and gets on a dyno.

BTW - the other night it had 220Kw at the wheels but then I woke up from the dream.
Never argue with an idiot, it brings you down to their level and they beat you with experience.

yes, the 170kw DASH Engines were generally called DASH 2 straight from the factory. The non-intercooled version were the 149kw type.

I'm not sure about the 3rd injector, just keep hearing about it, never seen though.

Funny wantsom, I've actually seen 220kw atw with the standard TBI of the DASH and a T3/T4, tubular exhaust manifold and Microtech. Not bad, considering the fact that the head wasn't even modifed :smokin

to be more precise, 280Hp atw and apparently, as later discovered, fuel was running too lean, so I can't see why not ?

I know, I was suprised myself when I found out how little mods where done.....not even the bottom end had been touched.

Forgot to mention, forged pistons, but that is more a reliabilty upgrade than bang for buck.

Yeah, please get back to me on the turbo number, I know the cordia fuel pump handles 300hp before leaning out, so I'm guessing the original starion will be fine, just need to check with a fuel pressure guage that it works fine all the way through the rev range.

nitrous oxide

Post by sirius dash »

i was also wondering how strong the internals are in a starion dash 2 engine because i was thinking of a squirt of nitrous with a wet system.

Well, Mitsubishi had all their 80s' turbo engines, with forged cranks, factory nitrated, and special alloy pistons, plus the 1G conrods are rated at 500hp by dsm specialists over in the states.
