I have a Kenwood CD deck (kdc-129) and just bought a 500w Sony 4 channel amp (xm-504z) actual rated power is 50w x 4.

What are the factory size speakers in the doors and in the rear?

I would like to know what speakers to put in the doors and in the rear?

I put in a double-din Kenwood unit in my car. The Kenwood speakers were 130mm or 5 1/4 in. The model no. was KFC-1369S.

Not the standard 4" or 6"! They were about $80 a pair...

Not sure on door speakers...mine didn't have any...

I'd assume they are 6"....the rears are 5"....dash speakers are 4"...

So with the
Kenwood CD deck (kdc-129) and a 500w Sony 4 channel amp (xm-504z).

Without hacking up trim too much..........
What speakers should I put in the Doors to get a good sound?
What speakers should I put in the Rear to get a good sound?

Or for the rear........ Should I make a new parcel shelf and mount a set of 6x9's?

What are your experinces and what were the results? Were you happy with the sound etc...

Nice set of 6" splits both front and rear....make up a shelf if you need to. Amplify the front stage, and add a small sub to the hatch later on...should sound great.

In order to get the best sound quality i would recomend a good set of front splits, and a 10 or 12" sub. Rear speakers are only for any rear seat passengers so a cheapish coaxial should be fine, but not required.

Use channels 1 and 2 on your amp for the fronts, then low pass and bridge channels 3 and 4 to run a sub.

good money up front on 6 in splits in some moulded door pods, 5 in coax under $100 in the rear positions, and decent 10 or 12 in the boot. always spend a majority of your money on the amps and then the primary drivers that you directly hear, front doors.

maybe DDPhil has a few words of advice, this is his domain.

What ever you were going to spend on front and rear speakers, spend it all on the fronts.

At the end of the day, two pairs of $150 speakers costs $300 but only sounds like $150 speakers.

$300 speakers on the other hand........

With your amp I'd go a set of 6.5 splits for the front and a nice 12" woofer in the boot in a 1.5 cubic foot ported box.

You'll have killer, real bass and sensational mids and highs, with a front end that can actually create a stereo image.

For nice cheap front splits...Go for a set of MB Quart...

For middle price...Gor for Rockford Fosgate...

Or if you want top quality sound (with a price to match)...Go for Focal
