Be a real man! Just take off the lines and plug up the holes (ie, use the same box). Lol its a bitch to drive with but its easy.

The only time it should feel hard to steer without the PS is when you are at low speed. Drifting through corners should be no problems with a bit of help from a skatey rear end (ie, power oversteer)

So the sigma box is a straight drop in (Relatively) greg? What do you mean by the "heavy and direct" comments?

Freestyler asked:
The Starion gearbox (I think) is higher geared so when you disconnect the power steering there is more effort needed to turn the wheel. The Sigma box is lower geared so it requires less effort to turn but requires more turns lock to lock on the wheel. If that makes sense. What do you mean by the "heavy and direct"
Never argue with an idiot, it brings you down to their level and they beat you with experience.

Anyone have the figures on the gearing of the boxes, and the lock to lock turns?
Also, how much of a direct swap is this? I have been running without PS for a while now and it does shit me in the car parks a little bit (not that I plan on driving it to car parks much anyway, its more of a twisty road car :P). Would be intrigued if its a direct swap as I could grab one and revamp the steering in the car cause despite my best efforts there is still play in the damn steering :P

Hey all, we have put a gk (analog "LOL") steering box
in a JA, the box is (of cause) shorter at the steering colum
so we used the gk colum as well
All went into the starion without any other changes
even the wiper switch has the same plug.
IT WORKS
Cheers:Phil.

Rofl... I did ask a similar question in my thread...
The sigma box is slow compared to the starions. And you will loose some turning circle.
I plan to just plug up the power steering hoses up untill I can make up a bracket to fix the 2.6 litre. If you are still having troubles, I will inform you how I went about changing my steering setup.

get some musciles
GK sigma steering box in starion is ok
but you dont want to be parking all the time
its a tad heavy (a BIG tad) however it showed
2 deg neg caster and 1.5 camber with 1.5 toe in
kind of reminds me of my old Monaro days
HJ 4dr 350 M21 (rrrrr) no assist
YOU DONT NEED THE GYM to make big musciles
Cheers:Phil.
