VR4/Starion engine rebuild

Hey guys, I am new to this forum and was hoping you guys could help me out.

I have a Turbocharged Lotus 7 replica (Clubman) that has a Starion block with a VR-4 head, 550cc injectors, to4 turbo, external wastegate etc.
My issue is that it shot a conrod out the side of the block. I am going to start a rebuild soon with another starion block (so it can bolt to the starion gearbox) and put the VR-4 head back on. I wanted to know if anyone knows of any companies that have forged rods to suit this block. It had arias forgies in it so I will buy another set I guess. Also should I look for forged pistons to suit a VR-4 or Starion engine?

You should get pistons to suit the head your running... VR4. The bore size is the same. Same with the rods.
Just about every aftermarket company has pistons and rods for the VR4 motors, shouldnt be hard to get.

Hope this helps.

Yes, get the pistons for the VR4 block, they have a different pin size to the Staz. I bought Eagle rods for my VR4 engine they cost me about $650

You need to check if it had VR4 or Starion rods. They look the same but have a different size pin size.
All the conrod and piston companies make a wide range of parts for these engines.

These 4G63 engines are bullet proof don't know why it would throw a rod? Maybe poor assembly, clearances? I don't recall anybody on this forum ever throwing a rod?

T04 turbo is a poor choice for a car like the clubman you want something that will spool like mad in a light car like that. EVO3 big16g would be perfect.

Also you need HKS cams (or copies) if you want to make it really haul. It will then rev as well as any SR20 could

Talk to Chris at www.meek.com.au he has all things VR4 including gaskets, forged pistons, rods and stroker kits in stock.

You don't know my luck! Believe me, if anyone on the planet was going to throw a rod on a bullet proof engine with only 4000km's on it, it will be me.
The turbo has a T03 rear with T04 front (should have explained that better). Spools enough to open the blow off valve between gear changes at 2200 RPM so it has a lot of midrange power (great for hill climbs!) and being so light lag under 2000 RPM is not really even noticable.
Manages a 0-100km time of 3.8 seconds (with a G-tech) on Toyo RA1's @ 10 PSI. When the new engine is run in I will up the boost to 17 PSI or so and hopefully break the mid 3 second mark (traction allowing)! :)

Engineered and registered.
Not good for bugs in the head at 120km/h. :wtf:
Lotsa fun but.
Expensive hobby.
EG:
15" tyres are around $1600 a set and don't tend to last long.
