really? your kidding!!

what i really want to know is if the L300 box will fit and how strong is this. usually commercial vehicles get pretty strong boxes.

Starion box is stronger than the commercial boxes.

Not that strong! Stripped four teeth off 4th gear at the Alpine rally two weeks ago. This is the second time I have had problems, last time we took two teeth of the gear at the back of the input shaft (but I think launch control had something to do with that)

As its almost impossible to get parts for the Sports Option box I am now looking at having a complete gearset made in straight cuts with dogs not syncros, still with a 1:1 5th though. The gears will be about 6mm wider this way.

May be able to do more than one set if there is any interest.

You need a Hollinger for your thing.

How many teeth would you have stripped off an L300 gearbox?

Looked at that Flav, have found a bellhousing from a Aust, Safari Pajero from the 1990,s that was cast to match the Starion block to a Holinger bolt pattern. Preference is to keep the Starion casing though.

You need a late Starion gearbox (88-90) These boxes are the strongest of all Starion boxes. If you need stronger, use a Supra W58 gearbox or even better a RX7 turboII gearbox, just as MrBishi mentioned. For the RX7 box you need a mazda b2600 bellhousing for matching your engine. The RX7 box is very strong, can hold approx 500HP and shifting at 10.000rpm is no problem.

boxes are rated more for torque, a rotary that revs to 10,000rpm and puts out 500hp is going to put very very different loads compared to a 500hp 2.6 that revs to 6000pm.

Yes, you are right! I know that to, but the RX7 gearbox is stronger then the Starion box, no matter what the torque is even at only 6000rpm :D
