Yes they are the same except for the turbine wheel profile inside. For example You could machine out a TD05 8cm2 housing to fit a TC06 wheel.

Also for example you could fit a TD05 turbine in a TC06 housing but you would have about 5mm clearance all around the blades :o which would not work real good.

Your title and your first post say TC05 but after that you talk about TD05's, so which is the correct one? My TD05-12 has an 060 exhaust housing from memory if that helps at all, which I'm sure it dosen't.

I think what they do to make the TC05/06 hybrid is take the standard TC05 and change the compressor wheel and cover to the 06 parts and then get it all balanced.

US Starions got a TD05-12 080, J-spec Sigmas etc got a TD05-12 060 like I have here. J-Spec Starions got the TC05-12 060, rest of world got TC06-11 080.

As for the turbo hybrid, thats what they do. Thats pretty much what all hybrids are - larger compressor matched to a smaller turbine housing. I dunno how much lag you TC06 guys get, but I get my punch at 3000-4000 on the 05, then flat after 4500.

Hey man what exactly are you after I have lots of Mitsubishi turbo stuff? I can rebuild/upgrade stuff as well.
