As the subject says, I was wondering if anyone has installed a Toyota 1JZ (or any similiar motor) in their Starion.

I think someone on the bishiboys site was in the process of doing so and was wondering where they were upto and what problems they had encountered.

I'm sure it will be worth the effort.

Hcca What happens if when you put the boot into it the diff blows up? I think you may need to consider filling the boot with concrete for traction. That or trade the two tires on the back in for one really big one that stretches from one side to the other.

I'll worry about traction when I get it running :) I'm prepared for the fact that the diff might nuke itself in a big hurry, in which case it will be off the road again..

if u stick with the stock twins, I doubt u can hurt the starion diff... unless you constantly abuse it

In the west, most cars are left hand drive and are better suited to motors like the 7m, 1/2j, 4g63 etc.. where your exhaust/ turbo plumbing is not tangled up with the brakes and steering. In a right hand drive, I'd probably go RB.. pretty decent motors
We've put a 7m, 1j and 2j in old rwd corolla, so should fit a staion a bit easier. Clearing the corolla xmember/steering took some effort, and the radiator sits in the plane of the rad support.
Traction?? whats that ?

starion dif should handle 300kw, maybe even 400, as long as your nice to it. if it does go bang, maybe a conquest dif would be a good option.
