TD05-12 fitment on JB

Ok have just purchased a working TD05-12 with modified wastegate, it comes with the exhaust manifold attached to it.

Now its from a GSR-X 1989, which share the Starion engine - DASH I beleive. Mine is not-DASH.

How do I go about fitting this.

Are the flanges different from a TC05-12A?
Is the exhaust ports on the DASH head different to the 8 valver?
What will I need (if anything) to be fabricated?

I also just realised its probably set for 12-14psi, and my car is gonna freak out. Any ideas on cheap (even dodgy) fuel jobs to prevent fuel-cut at ~12psi.

Should be the same. What does it look like?

Is the exhaust ports on the DASH head different to the 8 valver?

No.

What will I need (if anything) to be fabricated?

I wouldn't think so. See first answer.

Lengthen the wastegate arm to lower the boost.

from the looks of it the exhaust manifold should bolt up (altho that's just from looking @ it, I really suggest fitting it to the engine to find out..) but the turbo seems to be moved from the standard starion one, I would suggest trying to bolt the turbo onto the exisitng exhaust manifold to minimise on other work you will need to do, ie: dump pipe, x-over pipe and oil feed lines which might not match up.

You won't be able to use that exhaust manifold, i wouldn't think.

If I use my existing manifold can I pull out my old turbo, and try fitting the new one without going through gaskets? e.g. do I use silicone sealeant, not bother, or do I need proper gaskets.

Also regarding modifying the lines on turbo, what kind of things should I expect to need to do? e.g. lengthen lines (if so how do you recommend), changing connectors etc. Or will the lines match up if I use the existing manifold?

First time changing a turbo.

Starion is my second car, so doesn't matter if it takes all weekend or even week.

1st of see if the new turbo has the same flanged (weather it'll bolt onto the starion manifold..) if not then youre stuck getting one custom made..

crap
well here's hoping

I imagine I could just get someone to change the flange to suit my existing manifold

see how it goes

it kinda looks like the pipes just bolt on and are clipped. Dunno what you guys think, on both exhaust and compressed sides, I can't see a bolt hole anywhere

Dont get it until next week Mon/Tues btw.

On no
I see it now
Looks the same to me, four in a square, hope the distances are the same

you can cut the yellow wire going to the map sensor...but thats shit dodgy...better of getting a fuel cut defender...

I've been told so many different things, here they are:

1. The fuel cut is caused by the computer not being able to handle the injectors over 50% duty
2. Remove the air lead running from the airbox to the firewall
3. Remove map sensor wire

Its a 1985 JB 8 valve Starion.
Can anyone vouch for a definate answer to this?

The TD turbo should bolt onto your existing manifold. Not sure if the exhaust will be an exact match. As for pipes, you may need to "manouvre" them a bit to get them to go to where they need to go. Just be careful not to kink or crack them. Otherwise, have some new ones made up.

from the looks of it, you should be able to use your old manifold with the new turbo.

Thanks guys :) I sure hope it fits.

Going to use silicone sealant on the exhaust manifold when I swap them. Let me know if this is a bad choice.

General Turbo Questions if anyone can help:

Can I reuse the existing bolts, or would it be advisable to get new bolts?

My apologies for the 900 questions by the way.

So cut the actuator in half, have the ends threaded, put a coupling bolt in, and its an adjustable wastegate?

Cheapest fuel controller (fuel only)??

I've never held a TC05 or TD05 in my hand before, although I have seen the actuator, so this is why some of these questions may sound a bit stupid. Once I see the two on my table, it might make things easier. Just gathering knowledge before I even start.
