any suggestions for a tired engine its got about 250 000ks on it,
besides a rebuild would rather rebuild with stronger parts but moneys alittle tight.
it still runs pretty good, just i want it to run better :)
i'm thinking oil additives like, stop smoke and injector cleaner.
thanks Aaron
the rest of the car's great, aircon works, power windows work, central locking......half works (have to lock the passanger door but will unlock with a click of a button) even the alarms not to bad though it takes a bit to turn it off when it starts :)

Go for a VR4 conversion. A good service and tune may help?

not a lot you can do mate... jsut service her and look after her, if she's tried then dont stress her.. and eventually rebuild her.

lol smoke stopper. I tried a variety of these on the family's old 85 magna nothing worked even double dose.
This aside I wouldnt trust running that stuff through a turbocharger, Its basically an oil thickner and liable to clogg it up and do more harm than good.
Plus the more oil flow to the turbo the better, thiner oil should offer less resistance to the bearings.

Mine is identical.
250,000kms, runs ok but want better, few tick noises, no daramas.
I put in that Old Engine Treatment. Small piece of advice with that - dont. Since fitting it yes my car makes less tick noises, but now its blowing more smoke :S and I still have that oil smoke in the rocker cover :S
Id go for Stop Smoke, and some good non-synthetic oil. Injector cleaner cant hurt, but I beleive the higher octane fuels clean the system as they go anyway. The usual tune up - fuel filter, oil filter, oil change, 8mm leads, new quality plugs, maybe even a fancy coil. Its all good TLC gear.
EDIT: Just read the posts above, maybe no additives at all is better.

Wind up the boost and keep the oil topped up then after you get sick of that oily blow by smell, sell the car to some tosser who thinks its a bargan and buy another for about what you were thinking of spending on the rebuild bearing in mind you sell the old one for more than what you are going to pay for the replacement car, its just a simple mathematical equation really
