heres the pic of the adapter plate for starion gearbox, it's a bit shabby there, with the top bolts that hold the plate on, i had to drill holes into the gearbox so that they would fit in.

I will be making the thermostat come out the front as u can see, i havent
seen evidence that this is bad so i but hope it works. iv'e still got to bring the motor foward more to alow more clearance for the crank angle senser. So it's coming along ok sofar,

Just resize the pics on your computer then upload them again to the same URL's. Problem fixed.

Nice work, btw :)

hmmm, thats an IE6 only feature, which a lot of people disable....

have u checked if it works fine yet? if so I say u make a few up and sell them, Id sure as hell rather run an adaptor flange then have to buy a new gearbox.. :D

u have to shift the engine forward?!? my vr4 is all bolted up on the mounts with the gearbox and tailshaft all in place and i can still slide a peice of 3mm cardboard between the firewall and the hall effect sensor. what have i forgotton to put in / done wrong?

how much gap

So scum u have a vr4 motor in ya starion? and u have only got 3mm clearance between the fire wall and crank angle sensor, i thought it would need more than that.
have u had it running? wouldn't it nearly touch during accelerarion

tmz_99 it appears to look like working so far, but wait till i get it going to really tell.

My motor isnt moved forward either, and there is plenty of room between the sensor and the firewall (at least 10mm). Why did u need to move it forward? that would pose a problem withur exhaust manifold too wouldnt it??

u have 10mm?!?!? maybe there are different firewalls? I still plan to press my firewall in a little (heater box is right behind it, so cant go to far.) but the engine goes right / left under load / engine breaking. does it ever move back or forward? ...... just had a thought, are the engine mounts symmetrical? or do they have a right / left? naaaaaa, gearbox wont bolt on it its wrong... will it? just looked at my measurements. if my sensor had 10mm clear then the std thermostat housing would fit in there, minus the top cover, that’s on an angle so would need to cut & weld or remake. im confused now. :wtf:

i tapped the fire wall in just a little, so u say the heater box is behind it? or heater core??
i will be making a custom manifold so it shouldn't matter about bringing the motor forward. i think i currently have about 4 or 5mm gap now. but i am still tosing up whether to bring it faward more or not.

i asume the heater box thingy is behind it. in my cordia it bolted hard up aginst the firewall. big black plastic box containing the core and some vents and stuff. the bit that sprays red hot coolant on your feet :D
i am trying not to move the engine at all, if it moves, it will be back. in my opinion, the staz's motor sits WAY to far over the front axle line as it is. wanna remove dash and sit motor next to me in the cab...... dont think that will go over the pits. :(

yeah it looks like the firewall may have been rubbed in a bit...
