BOV Problems (oh joy)
BOV Problems (oh joy)
Hey guys ,
I just put a venting BOV on the car and I plumbed the vacuum line into the line coming off the boost sensor, now i went for a drive and noticed the bov wasn't venting , so i jumped out and adjusted the bov to the loudest setting and then I got back in and drove around somemore i drove towards home and thought i would test it out... 14PSI and PSSSHH i got it to vent, problem is, is that the rich spike is not a myth and my car had issues trying to stay alive before it konked going into my driveway i coasted to the back yard and have started the car numerous times and the car has issues idleing???? what should i check, i have checked all the vac lines and all are still on
Please Help

I don't think the bov is rich spiking at all
i just keep blowing this one hot pipe. grrrr
I need to change the starter too but i will do that when i fix this issue
major starting issues at the moment my starter is almost dead i think
Now i know why the previous owner had this starter in his boot all the time, he said he thought he had a starter issue but starter is fine blah blah. prolly incase he got stuck somewhere heh

If you still have the factory ecu and plumb in a venting BOV, you will have these idling issues and the car will run rich on gear changes due to the vented air already being metered by the AFM.

System doesn't exactly work like that, the pressure in the hose is the same along it's whole length. Idling problems with bov's are normally due to the valve opening when idling. Recirculating will avoid the problem as leaking air is replaced by other air in the system.
Running rich on gear changes is marginal I reckon, mine vents to air and has not noticably changed the way it runs.

RE:
i have a GFB stealth fx BOV, plumbed mine into the MAP sensor vac hose, it runs beautiful has never stalled or had problems with it...

Ok well my idleing issue was just that i blew a cooler pipe but thats fixed now and my idle is smooth as it was before but i have a question... my bov is making no noise?? it should be going ppppsshhh hehe and it isn't :(
The other thing is that sometimes i have a grey smoke out the tailpipe even though only idleing yet under boost i have none and the boost is strong etc. then when i back off the throttle the smoke starts again any reason?? if it was turbo wouldn't i be getting mass smoke underboost?

Why would it just start today after i have been in the motor damnit , geez problem after problem hehe i love starions :x
I just changed the PCV valve back because that was the only thing i used off the spare motor apart from the rocker cover so i changed that back just now cause i was told that if that valve is stuffed i will get smoke out the back too.
anyways will test that later.
I changed the starter though and she starts first time with a crack now woohoo :)
Hey Cookie can you contact me on ICQ later on tonight man if you can?
