Cookie - maximum timing advance

Post by Jesusdroveawestfield »

Cookie just wondering out of curiosity as I am in the process of downloading one of several setups I have on file for my microtech. I notice one of the maximum static advances is 30 deg and another has a setup of 35 deg. I recall during one of the dyno runs it was making great power but was pinging slightly so timing was backed off. Now that I have the water/metanol injection pinging shouldnt be an issue. What is the max timing that you run on your engine.

I am running a Wolf 3d Ver4 ECU, at cruse i can run 45 deg, up to 3psi boost 37deg, 10psi 33deg, 20psi 27deg. note no FMIC. At light load and cruse you should be able to run high advance, better throttle responce, improved fuel econ. most aftermarket ecu will let you adjust timining at boost levels, and light throttle settings. Higher advance also reduces your emission levels, sniffer cars arent to far away. 8)

Just to clarify. That 30 degrees that I stated is just on the basic ignition map. It doesn't take into account temperature compensation, trim, etc etc.

Not being a tuner I have no idea. I have had two different guys tune the car so far. Oh if only Ron new Microtech :(
Now that I have the new exhaust on and the water methanol injection I am going to have it tuned by the guy that Charlie recommends at Castle Hill. Apparently he knows Microtech well.............but there again everybody knows everything when you ask them dont they
Flappa......awesome site thanks for starting it.
