That time of year

:D It's that time of year again guys. Time to treat the little stazz with a bit of hard-earned respect. My 82 JA baby just got past the 250,000km mark last week, but she's suffering a little bit in the heat. My last tank of fuel was seriously down, economy wise, and I think it's due to the poor little thing trying to keep up with the heat. This is her first summer with the Haltech computer and she doesn't know what's hit her. Are you thinking what I'm thinking? Yep. It's time for an intercooler.

Now, I've never put an intercooler in a car before, but I can see a large attractive space in front of her radiator that's big enough for a massive inty. Can I please have everyone's opinions on where to put it (top of front mounted - or in the boot (if lag is what cooks your burger), what to put in, and how to put it in. How would you go about this task? Do it yourself? How do you make up the pipes etc. Is it worth getting expensive mandrel bent aluminium pipes etc. Is it worth paying a pro to do it. And so on.

Lots of opinions please. Cheers fellas. :beer

do the piping yourself. i thought i'd have now idea what to do but when i took mine in to get done, i watched them and felt like butting in and taking over myself cos it was so easy and they were so sloppy (i'm just a perfectionist). Definately next time i need cooler piping done (when mpi comes) i'm buying the bends and straights muself and lining them all up to get welded. or just use silicone joins at every intersection :D as for coolers chuck whatever you can fit in there, i've got mine mounted at a 4deg angle in the air dam, apparantly because it slows the entering wind down due to the angle it cools better but eh, it works.

Of course what you should do Tim is see another Starion with an intercooler setup in person. :)

That would make it MUCH easier to get an idea of what can be done...

A meet is the perfect opportunity for this, but if you can't make that, then simply talk to some of the other perth members and get them to show you their's...
