Mitsubishi Turbos TC06 vs TD05

Post by dhump »

I currently have a hi-flowed TC06 and looking at buying a modified TD05 from the States. Would like to know about the differences between a TC06 & TD05 and their horsepower potential.

Which one flows the most? Which has the larger exhaust housing and compressor housing.

My TC06 cant bypass enough exhaust gas through the wastegate and the TD05 looks as if it has a more direct exit for the gas than the TC06. I've also been told that the TD05 wastgate can be ported for more flow than the TC06.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Who ended up buying the TD06 turbo that was for sale a while back - you Cookie? Just wondering how it was going :)

from NZ mitsi forums opinnion seems to be TD05 16g for up to 18psi, 18g wheel for 22psi, anything higher TD06.

Some of the guys here running TD06 25G hybrids etc in their Lancers - boosting around 2 bar. I once had plans to do this, but to boost that high you need to run avgas etc, and if you set the boost low for 96 gas you don't take advantage of the peak power etc, so it'd go pretty rotten on the roads. I'm thinking TD05-big 16g @ 16-18psi for mine (EVO3 turbo).

Might of found my twin cam head by the way, just waiting for guy to get back to me.
