Hope this works. Never uploaded anything before, and I must say it's exciting. So you can see that I have no replacement switches. Dick smith $2 switches and blue electrical tape all the way. Has anybody done an aftermarket mod to a situation like this?

Tim.

That's a disgrace, people who treat cars like that, get cars that treat them the same way back! Get it sorted dude, shell out a very small amount of cash and do the car a favour! :(

Lol. You guys seem to have the impression I like it like this. I bleedin' hate it. It's better than driving without lights though, while I try to fix it properly.

Thanks for the moral support though

Well it's a long drive from Perth to Victoria but if you're paying me by the hour then okay. How's Saturday? Do they have dick smith over there or do I need to buy the switches in advance? Do you want me to put a dent above your left front wheel and remove the rubber from the outside of the driver's door too? I can remove your starter motor for you if you like. I can even crack the leather a bit too. Does your tape deck with 3 AM buttom and 2 FM buttons still work? I can disable it for you.

Lol.

Good one mate. Anyone else wanna have a dig? I'm open to original humour. rofl

what about having a go at folding up some sheet ally to make a matching pair of switch plates, that slip in the old cluster spot.
then show us the template design :D
there must be lots of staz owners who have busted switch pods by now.
i had something like that for mine years ago, but its lost now :x

Im going to make a new set of switches that will fit in the old position along with tasteful lights to show what is currently selected.

I'll let you all know when its done.

You have no starter motor!?! What do you do, park your car on a hill all the time?

Dave,

It's hard for anyone to quit, especially a newly rebuilt motor. All you can really do is offer your support. Perhaps call the Quitline and ask them what you can do for your motor. But ultimately, if it doesn't want to quit, then no amount of persuasion on your part will help it. It it doesn't want to be helped, then you can't help it. You will just have to wait until it kicks the bucket.

Perhaps it will help to remind it that if it keeps smoking then one day it may just cark it completely. Perhaps you can suggest that running back and forth across the freeway with a blindfold on is a quicker and less painful way of throwing in the towel.

Be there for your engine and in spite of your engine. Give it lots of TLC. It may just lose the desire to smoke after a while. It does happen, and with your support, this is more likely.

If you need any more advice, you know where to find me.

Best wishes.

Yeah Chris, when your car is a finely tuned g-force machine like mine is, every little extra thing is a dead weight. I figured that as long as I can roll easily out of the places I park, I can just clutch start it all the time.

Nah, my starter motor's on the way out, that's all. I can hear it giving up the ghost. It won't be long now. On that note, if anyone wants to sell me one for $20 or $30 you might just have a customer.
