Front Wheel Shaking at around 60km

I've got random wheel shake at around 60km, it doesn't happen all the time, it goes away at a slower or fast speed. It's random and happens either when I'm braking or just rolling along.

Happened before I changed rims, brakes and suspension. Could it be wheel bearings? It's not making any noises that would make me believe that it is. Any help to narrow it down will be great, thanks.

How much negative camber do you have?

Previously I'm unsure, currently, its just what the d2 came with, which is in the middle of the camber plates.

Go get wheel alignment. Or your tyres are worn on the inside. Thats what I had once or twice

Check wheel alignment & wheel balance.

Also check the tyres to make sure they havn't bulged etc.

I'll get the alignment checked, don't think its the tyres, does it on two different sets of rims and tyres.

Low tyre pressure can cause that. Could be both sets of tyres are low? Put 40 psi into them and check it. And yes any time you do any change on your suspension you need to get an alignment. In your case a 4 wheel one!

Definitely not tyre pressures, checked them on both already, running 36 psi cold. What would make it so random though?

if it happens when you are either braking or rolling, i would suggest it's probably at the rear end. The front end is always rolling, so that should rule it out.

Put the car on jack stands or a hoist and drive it with the wheels off the ground? The car won't shake obviously, but the wheel might.. then you can see what's going on. If the wheel doesn't shake then, i'd be looking at the suspension. If it does shake when off the ground, then chances are it won't be the suspension, but rather the driveline?

I'm saying this from a logical point of view, not from experience, so I could be completely off track, but I'm sure I'll get corrected if necessary :)

Mine occasionally does it at ~80km/h. I had the wheel balanced and sway bar bushes replaced. It helped! But it still happens every now and then.
I'm going to replace the drag link next to hopefully sort out the issue!

Mamun I'm pretty certain its front end related. Mal, how much play is in your steering, I'm thinking steering related because I hit a bump yesterday and it did the shake.

My steering play isn't that bad, but I have driven my other starion's with more response. Having a look under my car, I'm noticing all bushes have reached their use by date.
I will get the whole front end done such as the radius rod bushes, control arm bushes, tie rod ends, ball joints, sway bar end links and drag link! I have even bought a new idler arm....
I hate nothing more than crappy steering and suspension.

Should have it done within a couple of months.

And obviously, having wider 8in front wheels worsens the problem!

When you find out the issue, let us know :)
