This was written by a Garrett engineer so he should have a handle on what works best :)

Thank you kindly ~ very informative.

I have a 3 inch exhaust with a varex muffler on it. When I have the flap in the muffler closed it is quiet and very drivable.
When I open the flap the standard clutch slips as soon as I get to about 3500 rpm and it is very loud, awesome but only in the country. When I had a 4 button clutch in it with plenty of grip, it felt like another turbo kicks in when the flap is opened under heavy acceleration.

Drive in a way not to draw attention to yourself and you should be fine as the Varex is not legal and you can/will be defected.

Have found a dyno comparison 2/12 vs 3 inch system .

Don't 100% agree with all he says. Tuned length or at least equal length headers work awesome on turbo cars. When I put the MXP manifold on my EVO the difference was amazing. Having all the pressure pulses even and hitting the turbo at the same time really wakes the turbo up. You really notice it on gear change boost recovery and also say 1/2 throttle to full throttle eg. corner exit it just explodes out of corners now.
