Removed baffles from valve cover, and re-installed?

I'm doing a couple of jobs to my valve cover, including giving it a good clean and paint. I was wondering if anyone had removed the internal baffles, and successfully reinstalled them?

I've taken the heads off the rivets, and got the baffles out without any issues. I think I'll give drilling out the rest of the rivets a go, tapping the holes, and popping the baffles back in with bolts and some loctite.

Even after tanking it was still pretty gunged up underneath them, glad I had a look!

Answer came to me in the shower, as they usually do. Make replacement baffle plates out of alloy, and tack them in place! Easier, and safer :-).

Thin alloy can fatigue and crack with vibration so do a good tack job

Good call.

Will make them out of some 2mm, because that's what I've got lying around at the moment.
