Step 1: Unbolt the wastegate actuator.

Step 2: Wrap a rag around the end of a big bar.

Step 3: Place big bar with rag inside turbo outlet.

Step 4: Pull.

You don't need to undo the circlip.

Bloody hell.. is that turbo compressor housing welded in place or something? Is should rotate relatively easy. with a 3 foot bar I hardly had to use any pressure at all to move the housing in all cases.

You may have to bite the bullet and remove turbo and dis-assemble it.

cookie when i did this to a td05 there was a small circular metal slug just inside the compressor housing which slotted into a groove and so stopped the housing from moving. i had to remove (chisel :D) it in order for the housing to rotate. surely the earlier turbo's also had this? at any rate its not a difficult job, 1 pair of circlip pliers and a socket for that ring that goes around the outside of the turbo and away you go.

A big bar? I just undid the circlip and it rotated by hand. Maybe they just get really tight with age

i have heaps in bits, they all have pins, some are pulled out, some are sheared off. just crc the clip, goto bed and pull it off the next day and have a look.

Lots of WD40 and a big bar. Thats how its done ala Cookiemonster.
BTW its easier with the turbo on the ground and out of the car.

Cheers

tom.

I've rotated 2 TC-06's and a TD-06. There was no circular metal slug in any of them. The circlip did not need to be touched to rotate the housing.

I can see the Mitsubishi production line now...
"metal slug for you"
"no metal slug for you"
"metal slug for you"
"no metal slug for you"

Those whacky Japs. :)
