I used an msd tach adapter from the optical dizy sensor output. http://www.msdignition.com/products/acc ... _adapters/
The model you need depends on weather you use a hall sensor or a optical.

If its a starion tacho you're wanting to run, it's very simple to modify them to accept a 12v square wave. Most aftermarket ECU's can output this, or if you're using a mitsy ignnition module, it probably has a pin for it.

I'm planning to do the exact same, meaning starion tacho to twin Haltech coils. I was hoping to achieve this by using a twin coil tacho interface that takes a pulse signal from each coil & then outputs to the tacho. I have one ready to install soon (I think it came from a Galant VR4) but have yet to prove whether it works.

Are you guys running aftermarket ECU's?

What sort of ignition modules are you using?

It's a nice tidy solution to modify the starion tacho to accept a 12v square wave. If you've still got the original body-loom intact you can re-use the original wire.

Can post pictures of how to modify the tachometer, involves soldering a jumper across a resistor, and (possibly) putting a pull-up resistor inline, but that will depend on the type of ignition module or ECU the signal is coming from.

Are the twin post coils down the bottom of this page:

http://www.haltech.com/product/accessories/ignition/

the ones you're wanting to use? If you can get some more information on them, like primary winding impedance, and inductance that would be cool. If they're similar to the EVO 1-3 twin post coils (and I'll bet they are) I'd suggest you use a mitsubishi J722T ignition module. These are pretty beefy little units. I've seen them accept dwell times adequate to supply enough current and a beefy enough spark to support 400hp+ with no worries, that's with factory EVO 1-3 twin-post coils. Plus, these ignition modules have a tacho output signal which can interface to your starion tacho with the aformentioned modifications.

It's exactly I'm working it on my red MPI starion.
