BLOODY COMPUTERS

Post by SIRIUS »

ok, having problems choosing ecu's... was going more in the way of wolf 3d.... but then i heard they really arnt that good an to go for a microtec, haltec or link...etc... does get through ur mind around a bit... but still leaning more towards wolf v4 because it cheaper....even upon hearing its hard/impossible to get a smooth power curve out it...
what are everyones thoughts...

Your poll is missing an obvious ECU manufacturer. And thats the one I would vote for.

ECU'S

Post by Starion VR4 »

I think that any aftermarket ECU is an inprovement over std ECU, B/C at least the fuel can be changed etc.... The Wolf 3d Ver4 unit is the best ( I think) value for money of the ECU game, the Wolf has so many features and 128 load and 125 rpm adjustment points that tuning the engine has to result in a power curve second to none( in the price range). From what i have seen for ems and haltech, they are good to but not as adjustable and as many compenations as the Wolf unit. If people take the time to tune every point correctly it will have a very flat curve etc, but most tunes are done to a price/time factor, $400 isn't unreasonable is it? but $800-1000, you would balk at? Remember correct tuning takes time and not ever1 works for love. :beer

I would pick MOTEC if it was on there, but i would say the Wolf3d V4 is best there... BUT the Haltech E11 offers sooooo much more.
The E6k (or E6X) is better than the V3 but not the V4 which does have more features. Having said that, Haltech have just released their new software for the E6X, so having not played with the V4 i can't say one way or the other.
Needs to be a bit more specific in the poll i think.

well, no... the ecu is only as good as the engineers that design it. The actual job of tuning the ecu is only as good as the tuners ability to tune an engine with what he has to work with. There is a big difference there.
